Dog Grooming Prices in 2026: What the Chains Actually Charge — by Size, by Coat, and by the Month
Dogs unless noted, before tax, tip and add-ons. "Full groom" = bath + dry + haircut. There is no flat price in this category — chains quote by size and coat, so we show honest bands instead of fake precision.
Observed & compiled: August 2026 · re-checked monthly
What changed since the July check (re-checked 24 Aug 2026 — first full refresh of this category)Start with a correction to our own work: we said in July that Petco publishes the clearest tier ladder in the category. It does not. Petco’s corporate grooming page says plainly that prices are “based on each individual pet — call or visit a Petco location for a quote.” The familiar $22–$39 bath / $38–$66 groom ladder is an observed figure from third-party price guides, and it is labelled that way from today. The wider finding is the same one we hit in massage last cycle: six of these eleven chains publish no customer price at all — PetSmart (prices quoted only inside the booking flow), Petco, Scenthound (its membership pages now carry no number), petbar (JavaScript-walled), Wag N’ Wash (returns nothing to a visitor) and Woof Gang (names four service tiers, prices none). One real mover: the Pet Supplies Plus self-wash is no longer $10 — it is about $15 for a 30-minute session, $12–$20 by location, still the cheapest clean dog in the country but not by the margin we printed. Two of our July numbers moved in the shopper’s favour and are corrected down: Dogtopia’s bath floor is $23, not $25, and its spa packages start at $45, not $55. New this cycle: Petco’s full published add-on menu (Essentials $25, VIP $20, Flea Cleanse $23, Shed Release from $20, Soothe & Repair $28, Calm & Refresh $35) and $20 self-wash; Woof Gang’s four-tier service ladder; PetSmart’s required express service for bulldogs, pugs, boxers and Boston terriers; and the fact that at Aussie Pet Mobile the haircut is an add-on, not part of the base spa. Verified unchanged: Splash and Dash at $39.95/mo, Furry Land’s XL tier at $160–$185, Aussie Pet Mobile’s ~$70+ start, and the Pet Supplies Plus salon bands. Carried forward from July: Furry Land’s small-dog tier.
Added 31 August 2026 (chain-level update between refreshes — the category date above is unchanged on purpose). Two chains re-checked. Aussie Pet Mobile is now Bark & Mane, rebranded 17 June 2026 in its 30th year; we missed it last cycle and are correcting it. Its own site publishes no price and it will not take a booking for a single service — every appointment includes the full bath package. Wag N’ Wash was re-checked and still returns nothing readable, so its July figure stays labelled July. That moves this category to seven of eleven publishing no price, and it is now counted alongside oil changes and massage in our price-transparency audit.

Correction, August 2026: in July we called this the most transparent big-box menu. It isn't. Petco's own corporate grooming page states that "prices for full-service baths and grooms are based on each individual pet — call or visit a Petco location for a quote." The $22–$39 bath / $38–$66 groom ladder marked * above is observed from third-party price guides, not published by Petco, and large or special-coat dogs still pass $100. What Petco does publish is the add-on menu, which is where the money actually leaks: Essentials $25 · VIP Treatment $20 · Flea Cleanse $23 · Shed Release from $20 ($30 for PLUS) · Soothe & Repair $28 · Calm & Refresh $35. Each of those stacks on top of a groom that was quoted without them. Self-service wash from $20 at select Petco and Unleashed stores, supplies included.
Full-service bath includes shampoo, blow-dry, ear cleaning, gland expression, 15-minute brush-out and nail trim; the full groom adds a breed-standard cut. Every session opens with a seven-point Pet Care Check. Vital Care membership layers on recurring discounts.
PetSmart
LARGEST NETWORK — NO PUBLISHED MENU
BATH & BRUSH$27–$46*
FULL GROOM$38–$75+*
LARGE / LONG COATto $150
What you'll actually pay: observed baths ~$27–$46 and full grooms $38–$75+ by size and coat — a big long-haired dog can pass $100–$150. Both bands are marked * because PetSmart publishes no price list: its own FAQ says prices are "based on breed, condition of coat and length of service," and you only see a number after entering breed and age in the booking flow and clicking Check Prices. That absence is why the 2026 price guides now disagree with each other — one quotes $30–$85 baths and $45–$120 grooms against the band above, and there is no published source to settle it. Discounts, straight from PetSmart: 30% off adult grooming rates for puppies up to five months, and 10% senior/military on Tuesdays only.
Bath package includes shampoo, blow-dry, ear cleaning and nail trim; full groom adds the haircut. Worth knowing before you book: an express, uninterrupted groom is required, not optional, for English and French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers and Boston Terriers and any dog mixed with them — a respiratory-risk policy, and you'll be asked to stay in or near the store. Proof of rabies vaccination is required with a 24-hour wait after any shot; New York City, Iowa, Connecticut, Colorado and Hawaii have their own rules.
Pet Supplies Plus
SELF-WASH ~$15 — STILL THE CHEAPEST CLEAN DOG
BATH & BRUSH$20–$51
FULL GROOM$35–$77
SELF-WASH~$15 / 30 min
What you'll actually pay: the breed examples show grooming's honest spread — short-coat Chihuahua full groom ~$61, mini Poodle ~$72, Australian Shepherd ~$94, Alaskan Malamute ~$165 at the same chain. The self-wash moved: we published $10 in July; it now runs about $15 for a 30-minute session, $12–$20 depending on location. It is still the cheapest way to get a dog clean in America — one price covers any size dog, and the tub, shampoo, towels and dryer are included — but not by the margin we printed. Two loyalty plays: the Dirty Dog Discount Card buys five sessions up front for a saving of over 40%, and the rewards program gives a free wash after eight.
Franchise; East/West Coast stores price above South/Midwest. Every store sets its own menu. Salon bands verified unchanged in the August 2026 cycle.

MONTHLY HYGIENE MEMBERSHIP — OBSERVED BAND
MEMBER / MONTH~$39
UNLIMITED TIER~$65
ADD-ON DISCOUNT25% off
What you'll actually pay: the subscription pioneer — every membership includes a monthly bath, ear cleaning, nail trim, teeth brushing and a 6-point wellness check, plus 25% off add-ons like blow-dry and haircuts. Month-to-month, cancel anytime; founding members lock their rate for life. What changed in August 2026: Scenthound's corporate "why membership" page and its homepage now carry no price at all. The ~$39 entry figure is observed from location pages and third-party coverage, not published nationally, so ask your local Scenter for its own rate before assuming.
Corporate publishes no national menu — each location sets rates, so these figures are an observed band from published location pages, not a fixed price. Haircuts are an add-on, not included in the base plan.

HAIRCUTSquoted separately
What you'll actually pay: the signature play is unlimited baths, blow-dries and brush-outs from $39.95 a month — bring the dog in as often as you want. Muddy-dog households do the math fast: two shop baths a month already beats it. Verified unchanged in August 2026, and in a category where six of eleven chains have stopped publishing prices, this is one of the few that still states a number on its own site. The page now says plainly that pricing varies by size, breed and frequency and routes you to a short questionnaire for a personalised rate, so treat $39.95 as a floor.
Franchise, roughly two dozen published US and Canadian locations; weekly, monthly or as-often-as-you-like options. Full grooming (haircut) is quoted per location. Worth knowing: the "Cute Cut" guarantee will fix a bad haircut from another groomer free.

UPPER TIERSby weight class
What you'll actually pay: boutique wash-bar franchise, Texas-born and now in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri and South Carolina — memberships observed from $39/mo covering up to four self-serve washes plus a monthly nail trim, with unlimited-bath and full-serve tiers priced by your dog's weight class. Checked again in August 2026: the corporate memberships and FAQ pages require JavaScript and return nothing to an ordinary visitor, so the chain publishes no figure you can read before you call. Its own wording is "memberships are based on the size of your dog — contact your local petbar boutique."
Weight-based pricing means no single national number for the upper tiers — confirm your dog's class locally. Single washes available without joining. The $39 entry figure is carried from July and marked observed.

SELF-WASH DEALbuy 10, get 11th free
INCLUDESfacial, dremel, ears
What you'll actually pay: professional grooms start at $70+ and bundle premium shampoo, a blueberry facial, blow-dry, breed-specific trim, nail trim/dremel and ear cleaning. The Frequent Bathers Club (10 self-serve baths, 11th free) is the loyalty deal on the wash side.
We looked again on 31 August 2026 and got the same nothing. wagnwash.com/self-wash returns no readable content to an ordinary visitor, so the $70+ figure stays dated 20 July 2026 — that is the last price we could source, and we would rather show you a July number labelled July than an August number we did not verify. A warning if you go searching: the prices that surface for this chain mostly belong to washwag.com and washnwag.net, which are different and unrelated businesses, or to a single franchise location. Don't assume they apply.
Dogtopia (spa services)
DAYCARE ADD-ON — PER LOCATION
BATHfrom $23
NAIL TRIM$10–$20
TEETH BRUSHING$10–$15
What you'll actually pay: grooming here rides on top of daycare — baths start at $23–$25, nail trims $10–$20, teeth brushing $10–$15, and spa packages from $45. Re-checked across four published location pricing pages in August 2026, which moved two of our July numbers down: the bath floor is $23 (Plano), not $25, and spa packages start at $45, not $55. We could not re-source either the $30 nail trim or the $5 teeth brushing we showed in July, so both bands have been narrowed to what is currently published rather than left wide. The value here is a clean dog at daycare pickup, not a standalone appointment.
Full haircut grooming only at select locations. Figures are an observed band from published location pricing pages (Plano, Bloomington, Orlando East, South Austin); every location prices independently. Brush-outs billed per 15 minutes where offered.
Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming
QUOTE-BASED — NO NATIONAL MENU
FULL GROOMquote by breed/coat
DIAMOND DOG ADD-ON$20
HAIR COLORING$35–$45
What you'll actually pay: 200+ boutique locations and still no national price list — every store quotes by breed, weight and coat condition, and the spa menu on a location page names the tiers without pricing them. Knowing that ladder is worth money anyway. As of August 2026 it runs: Full Groom (haircut, luxury bath, blow dry, brushing and styling, nail trim and grind, ear cleansing, sanitary trim, gland expression) · Mini Groom (all of that minus the full haircut — face, paws, tail and ears tidied instead) · Luxury Bath · Classic Bath. Mini Groom is the tier most owners of short-coated dogs actually want and the one nobody thinks to ask for by name. Published add-ons anchor the extras: $20 Diamond Dog spa package, $35–$45 hair colouring. A chain-wide grooming price increase took effect August 3, 2026 with no dollar figures published, so treat any Woof Gang price quoted online from before August 2026 as stale.
Boutique positioning prices above big-box for comparable breeds. We show no invented band here — call your location for an estimate. Re-verified 24 Aug 2026 on the corporate site's San Antonio (Pearl) location page: tiers named, prices still behind the booking system.
Bark & Mane (formerly Aussie Pet Mobile)
MOBILE — QUOTE ON BOOKING · RE-CHECKED 31 AUG 2026
OBSERVED START~$70+
OBSERVED RANGE$60–$150
HAIRCUTadd-on, not included
What you'll actually pay: the biggest mobile-grooming franchise publishes no national menu — every appointment is the same 15-step process (eye and ear cleaning, nail trim, shampoo and conditioner, brush-outs, massage, towel and blow dry, sanitary trim, paw pad trim, fragrance, bandana) quoted per pet, observed starting around $70+ and running $60–$150 in practice. The thing most people get wrong, re-confirmed this cycle: a breed-specific haircut or shave-down is an add-on, not part of the base 15-step spa. If you're booking mobile grooming expecting a haircut, say so when you book — otherwise the quote you were given is not the price you'll pay.
New name, same company: Aussie Pet Mobile announced its rebrand to Bark & Mane on 17 June 2026, in its 30th year; aussiepetmobile.com now redirects to barkandmane.com and the legal entity is unchanged. We missed this in our August check and are correcting it here — worth knowing because the "Aussie Pet Mobile prices" pages still ranking in search are describing a company that has changed its name. You cannot book one service. The company states it does not take reservations for à la carte services like a nail trim; every session includes the full bath & blowout package, so what is a $20 stop elsewhere is a full booking here. Deshedding is charged separately when required. 48-hour cancellation window. Each franchise sets its own rates — expect well above shop prices for large or heavy-coated dogs. Cats serviced too. Re-verified first-party 31 August 2026; the company publishes no price, only a quote form.
Furry Land Mobile Grooming
MOBILE — PUBLISHED STARTING PRICES
SMALL DOGSfrom $110
SMALL DOODLE/DBL COATfrom $130
XL DOGS$160–$185
What you'll actually pay: the transparency outlier in mobile — location pages actually publish starting prices, and in August 2026 they still do, which makes this the easiest mobile groomer in the country to price before you call. Verified unchanged: extra-large dogs from $160 (Fairfield) to $165 (Houston), extra-large doodles, poodles and double coats from $180–$185. The small-dog tier ($110, or $130 for doodles and double coats) is carried forward from July — we could not re-source it this cycle and would rather say so. Either way it is roughly double shop prices, which is the honest cost of the groomer coming to your driveway.
100+ territories. Rates are labeled estimates and rise with temperament, coat condition and add-ons. Bath-only service is call-for-quote.
The seven things worth knowing before you book a groom
Seven of these eleven chains publish no price at all. PetSmart, Petco, Scenthound, petbar, Wag N' Wash, Woof Gang and Bark & Mane all send you to a booking flow, a phone call or a JavaScript wall instead of a number. We have now counted this across three categories — the full audit is here. This is the same collapse we found in massage last month and in oil changes before that — and it is why every band on this page is now marked either published or observed. If a site quotes you a confident national price for any of those six, ask where it came from.
There is no flat price — size and coat set everything. The same "full groom" runs ~$61 for a short-coat Chihuahua and ~$165 for an Alaskan Malamute at the same chain. Doodles and double-coated breeds are the industry's surcharge tier, typically $20–$30 above same-size short-coats.
The big-box floor is $38–$66 — observed, not promised. The Petco tier ladder everyone quotes (baths $22–$39, grooms $38–$66) is not published by Petco; its corporate page says the price is quoted per pet. We said otherwise in July and have corrected it. Treat the tiers as a floor.
The add-ons are where the money leaks. Petco publishes those even though it won't publish the groom: Essentials $25, VIP Treatment $20, Flea Cleanse $23, Shed Release from $20, Soothe & Repair $28, Calm & Refresh $35. A $47 medium groom with two add-ons is a $100 visit.
The subscription wave has reached dog grooming. Scenthound (~$39/mo hygiene plans, observed), Splash and Dash ($39.95/mo unlimited baths, still published) and petbar (from $39/mo, observed) sell cleanliness as a membership, exactly like massage chains — and the same fine print applies: check what's actually included (haircuts usually aren't) and the cancellation terms.
Mobile costs about double, and the haircut may not be in it. Furry Land publishes small-dog grooms from $110 vs $38–$77 in a shop. At Bark & Mane (formerly Aussie Pet Mobile) the base package does not include a breed cut or shave-down — that's an add-on, and it is the most common mobile-grooming billing surprise. Say the word "haircut" when you book.
The cheapest clean dog in America now costs about $15. The Pet Supplies Plus self-wash was $10 when we first published; it's now ~$15 for 30 minutes ($12–$20 by location), one price whatever your dog weighs, tub and shampoo and towels and dryer included. Petco's self-wash starts at $20. Wag N' Wash's buy-10-get-1 punch card and the Pet Supplies Plus five-session Dirty Dog card are the loyalty versions.
Compiled July 2026 and re-checked in full on 24 August 2026 from chain-published grooming, corporate and location pages plus national price-tracking sources; re-checked monthly — see our methodology. Educational information, not a quote; grooming is priced per pet and per location, and most chains only confirm the price at booking. Not affiliated with any chain listed.
