Haircut Prices in 2026: Ten Chains, Audited First-Party
Standard adult cut, walk-in, before tip. Franchise locations set their own prices — that's why ranges, not single numbers. A few chains here are men's-only barbershops or kids-only salons; the model is labeled on each.

Great Clips store pages only
Audited 28 Sep 2026: greatclips.com's national page publishes no price at all ("at the affordable price you want"). Two sampled store pages (Chicago, Los Angeles) both charge well above the $18 "national average" this site previously carried — that figure could not be reproduced anywhere. Ownership unchanged: privately held, majority shareholder Ray Barton since 1997; Rob Goggins became CEO Aug 2025.
Sport Clips published
Audited 28 Sep 2026: the only chain on this page with a real number on a page you can read without a ZIP code or a phone call — sportclips.com's FAQ states the Varsity range directly, hedged "typically." *Kids price not reconfirmed this cycle, likely store-level only. Ownership unchanged: Logan-family controlled since 1993, CEO Edward Logan since 2020.
Supercuts store pages only
Audited 28 Sep 2026: national page states twice "Visit your local Supercuts salon webpage for pricing" and lists no rate. Two store pages sampled: Fort Worth $25 (Chicago's store didn't list a kids tier at all — *single data point). Ownership unchanged: Regis Corporation, core brand per Feb 2026 earnings; Jim Lain named interim CEO June 2025.
SmartStyle (inside Walmart) store pages only
Audited 28 Sep 2026, single-store sample (Sioux Falls, SD). Age cutoff corrected: the site labels its kids tier "10 & Under," not "12 & under" as this page previously showed. Cleared from our aggregator-only list — this cycle added a first-party smartstyle.com source. Ownership unchanged: still a Regis Corporation division.
Cost Cutters store pages only
Audited 28 Sep 2026, single-store sample (Stevens Point, WI) — the $24 adult figure matches our prior "typical" almost exactly, but *the kids figure ($22) is notably higher than the $15–18 this page carried, and close to the adult price; flagged for next cycle. Cleared from our aggregator-only list. Ownership unchanged: Regis Corporation.
Fantastic Sams store pages only
Audited 28 Sep 2026: fantasticsams.com's national page gives no amount ("All prices start at the listed amount" — no amount shown). Two of five sampled store pages published real prices; three showed nothing at all. *Kids price not found this cycle, carried forward unconfirmed. Cleared from our aggregator-only list. Ownership unchanged: Dessange International since 2011.
Hair Cuttery not published
Audited 28 Sep 2026, reclassified: the exact page this site had cited as its own source, haircuttery.com/salon-pricing/, now errors with "Invalid salon" and shows no default price; the full services menu defers every category to "View Prices at Your Nearest Salon"; even a sampled individual store page said only "reach out to your local salon ... for current pricing." No price found anywhere on the site. The figures above are relabeled observed (third-party) rather than deleted. Ownership unchanged: Hair Cuttery Family of Brands / HC Salon Holdings, CEO Eric Bakken since 2022.
Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids (kids-only) store pages only
Audited 28 Sep 2026 — first genuine re-check since July (previously carried forward every cycle). Two store pages sampled show full, itemized menus. New fact: the ownership group also acquired Snip-its Franchising Co. in October 2025, a separate kids-salon chain under common ownership.
Floyd's 99 Barbershop (barbershop) not published
Audited 28 Sep 2026, reclassified: the national services page and two sampled location pages all render fully and show zero dollar figures for any service — pricing runs through a named-stylist skill tier (Headliner, Platinum Artist, Technical, Stylist, Barber, Expert) with no numbers attached, disclosed only by phone or booking. The specific figures above, including from the URL this site had cited as its own source, are not reproducible today and are relabeled observed (third-party). Ownership unchanged; the company announced a 25th-anniversary franchise-growth push in July 2026 (144 locations, 50+ in development).
Roosters Men's Grooming Center (men's) could not check
Attempted 28 Sep 2026: roostersmgc.com is a JavaScript-only site and returned an empty page on five different URLs tried — a tooling failure, not evidence the chain stopped publishing. New fact surfaced while checking ownership: Roosters has been majority-owned by Regis Corporation since 2011, alongside Supercuts, SmartStyle and Cost Cutters — previously undocumented here. Figures above are carried forward from July 2026, unverified.
Worth knowing before you sit down
- Most haircut prices exist — just not on the page you'd expect. Six of the ten chains here publish no national rate but do publish real, dollar-specific prices on individual store pages. That's a genuinely different pattern from the "subscription hiding a price" behavior we've found in gyms and car washes — a haircut's real cost varies by market rent, so the chains publish it where it's actually true: at the store.
- Only one chain prints a number you can read without picking a location. Sport Clips' own FAQ states its range directly. Everyone else makes you find a salon, or call.
- Two chains publish nothing at all, even store by store. Hair Cuttery and Floyd's 99 defer every page we checked — including ones this site used to cite as sources — to a phone call or a booking flow.
- Every location prices independently. Franchisees set rates, so a chain can be cheapest in one town and mid-pack in the next. The ranges above bracket real sampled stores, not a made-up national spread.
- Tips aren't in these numbers. $3–$5 standard on a basic cut.
